Artist Statement

Julie Davidson Smith's vibrant paintings are lush painterly surfaces; a tapestry of bold brushstrokes and fresh fields of colour. Julie's symbolic imagery of vegetation, and figures in ambiguous landscapes reveal themselves through her intuitive mark making - a highly personal process with many layers of paint. Julie is a BFA graduate from Concordia University and now resides in Kingston Ontario where she paints full-time. Her work has been exhibited in Kingston, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and the U.S.
